Printing Your Family History Workshop

Have you thought about writing a Family History or have actually been working on one and are now wondering about printing it? What type of binding should you do? Hard binding, perfect binding, coil binding? Wondering if you have scanned your photos at the right dpi so that they'll look good when they are printed? How about submitting it all to get printed?

Carol Holland, BYU Print & Mail's Family History Consultant, will be hosting monthly workshops to answer these and many other questions about printing your family history. She will also have numerous examples of histories that we have printed to give you ideas for layouts, and a general feel of what you can do with your family history.

Carol has years of experience and has helped hundreds and hundreds of people get their files prepared and books printed. She also represents BYU at multiple Family History and Genealogy Conferences throughout the region and has taught at many of these conferences. She is always happy to share her wealth of knowledge and experience to help people get their stories printed.

Please join us the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00-1:00 here at the University Press Bldg. (701 E. University Pkwy. across the street from the Harmon Bldg.)

First one will be held April 6th. Sign up at http://printandmail.byu.edu/signup to reserve your spot (seating is limited to 30).

We will have some refreshments, too. Hey, food makes us happy!

It's In The Mail!!!

Is your tongue dry from licking too many envelopes? Feel like you're getting Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from folding and stuffing so many envelopes? Paper cuts? How long does it take to address your mail? Need to save on postage?

Mail Services will be hosting a short seminar to discuss how we can help take care of your mailing, help you save on your postage, and free you up to do more important things in your office. Gaylene Greenhalgh, Kurt Johnson, and Thom Roylance will share how we can help with these and other mail-related issues you may have.

We also will discuss what's changing this year with the United States Postal Service.

Please join us Wednesday, March 23, 10:00 a.m. in Room 3380 WSC. Sign up at http://printandmail.byu.edu/signup

We look forward to seeing you there!

Yes, there will be some yummy refreshments!

Communications Can Be Tailor-Made!

We had a great turnout at our Variable Data Printing seminar on February 23rd. Numerous people from many different departments on campus. Zack Cameron did a great job presenting some of the benefits of VDP and had some beautiful samples of letters, postcards, brochures, stickers, coupons and folders, all created variably for every one of our guests. He even showed how cool QR Codes are. (and they can be printed variably as well!)

Lots of questions and ideas and everyone left thinking of what they could do to use VDP for their department. We are more than happy to give personal presentations either at your department or here at the University Press Building, just let us know. But we warn you, your rate of response may increase significantly!!
